  TransProcure expands BPO services facility

  By Edu H. Lopez

TransProcure Corporation, a leading procurement services provider, has expanded its business process outsourcing (BPO) procurement services facility.

Located in Makati City, this new facility will be operational on February 2 at the RCBC Plaza, a certified IT zone and home to major call centers and outsourcing providers in the country.

The facility is the first BPO-procurement center in the country, with its own Education Center, Global Procurement Helpdesk and Transactional Purchasing Center. Optimistic about its progress, TransProcure has also reserved the adjoining spaces for further expansion.

Operations testing for BPO-Procurement were conducted in December 2003, when Ariba, the market leader in enterprise spend management, awarded the contract for its Asia Pacific Sourcing HelpDesk to TransProcure.

TransProcure, a key Ariba partner in Asia, provided valuable support for a series of successful eSourcing events conducted by an acknowledged market leader in the global energy and petrochemical industry, with operations in nearly 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Several Global Fortune companies are being enabled as of press time and will be served by TransProcure in Manila.

TransProcure President and CEO Charlie Villasenor said: “TransProcure is one of a kind and the leader in BPO-Procurement Services. We have chosen to be the major provider in a particular niche - procurement, where domain expertise, experience and high quality service delivery and competitive cost is key in bringing leading companies to avail of our services.”

These recent developments and the company‘s track record proves that “TransProcure is at the forefront of BPO for procurement and is leveraging its advantage of being an Asian company with people who are leaders in procurement and technology,” according to Villasenor.

"We have already seen the trends of outsourcing activities in accounting, finance, IT, and customer service. Procurement is the next logical step to this success pattern. Companies can benefit a lot by getting expert help on several areas of the procurement area, where most companies do not have it as a core business.” TransProcure also offers procurement shared support services to the local market.

Following their decision to expand, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) recognized the company‘s pioneering efforts in BPO-Procurement Services, granting business incentives to TransProcure in order for the government to accelerate growth and development in the technology and business process outsourcing (BPO) sector.

PEZA is the Philippine government agency tasked to provide key incentives for IT- and Services-related industries. Such government support, combined with available skilled manpower, high English language literacy, private sector support, and advanced IT-enabled infrastructure, gives the Philippines the competitive advantage in BPO.

TransProcure is the only company focused on the BPO-Procurement space, simply because Procurement is a specialized field where expertise is scarce but where TransProcure leads.

As the country grows into the BPO hub for U.S., European and Asian companies, TransProcure remains the most competitive option for BPO-Procurement. Its broad experience in many facets of procurement operations is a key advantage.

Many foreign and local companies can truly appreciate TransProcure‘s compelling cost advantage in outsourcing areas of procurement operations, due also to its deep domain expertise and high scalability.

TransProcure is keen on offering its services to more global Fortune companies across a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, financial services, electronics, food and beverage, consumer goods and services.

Among its major Asian and local clients are leading port operator International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) and San Miguel Corporation (SMC), the largest food and beverage company in Southeast Asia.
